The project was executed by FUNDASAL and consisted of the installation of 3 drinking water systems and 1 sewage system for poor communities in El Salvador.

This organization is characterized by implementing methodologies that integrate and generate learning, such as Mutual Help, through which the works have been implemented in the different communities. This methodology prepares for the administration, conflict management and favors community coexistence and sustainability of the works, since the participants know the constructed work well and are trained for its use and maintenance.

Through mutual help, the families participating in the project contribute their labor to carry out the construction work, work that is accompanied by technical assistance to guarantee the quality of the work and the learning process that is generated in the combination of community experience with technical knowledge.

The families, led by the ADESCOs and Water Meeting, were divided into work crews, stipulating a schedule to carry out the works. At the end of the project, the contribution of the families in Mutual Help was recorded at USD $21,468.

The project benefited 639 families from 6 communities, which improved the quality of drinking water and sewage systems, which substantially improves the conditions in which they live, with a positive effect on the health of its inhabitants, while at the same time motivates the collective processes that these community organizations have carried out for years.
