The project consisted of the construction of 85 innovative latrines and the rehabilitation of 5 latrines (with the help of officials from the CODEBI Development Committee created as part of the this project) for families in flood-prone areas in the Bilongue and Oyack districts, Cameroon.

The strategy used was based on the pillars of community development, involving families through awareness campaigns and creating alliances with administrative and traditional authorities.

It is a latrine whose structure is made up of two cabins (WC + shower) built on a raised watertight pit. Access to the toilets is via stairs and ramps for people with reduced mobility. This toilet allows the management of gray and black water separately.

To guarantee total sanitation and avoid groundwater contamination, a pit with an infiltration tank is considered to collect and facilitate the infiltration of gray water only into the ground. As for the black water, it will be collected in the pit. There, a rapid liquid-solid separation will be produced by simple filtration of a layer of coconut fiber that vertically divides the hole in two.
